During my stay in London in 2008, I received a very pretty ukelele as a birthday present. I had vowed to myself that I would learn to play it really really well after watching the following youtube video:
While My Ukelele Gently Weeps
Also, I had the privilege of attending the wonderful performance by The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain to mark the finale of Hay Literature Festival 2008. Not only is the music absolutely delightful, this is one unique band that incorporates comedy into all their pieces, it's so entertaining to watch, as well as to listen. The dynamics between the team are really very funny to watch, and quite fantastic--see for yourself:
The absolutely fantastic and very FUNNY Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain
it's on continuous play mode, but I very much recommend The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

So I recently started learning chords and also how to strum, and although the tips of my fingers continuously feel like they're on fire, it's really fun to learn one short song at at a time. I've been at it for 3 days now, and now I know how to play Thank You by Dido and Home on the Range in-surprise!-A minor and C major hehe. As a result, its much much too high to sing comfortably and play, but some day, I hope to make my own ukelele weep gently.
Here are a few photos of my beautiful uke!
In case you are wondering what a ukelele (or ukulele or even 우쿨렐레 in Korean.. which I don't like at all:-/) is, here is a short intro:-)
A 4-stringed instrument from the guitar family, the ukulele (pronounced /ˌjuːkəˈleɪli/, YOO-kə-LAY-lee from Hawaiian: ʻukulele [ˌʔukuˈlele]), (variantly spelled ukelele in the UK), or abbreviated to uke, originated from Portuguese immgrants who brought it to Hawaii.
